rais'd impious war in heav'n and battle proud

with vain attempt. "

God ejects Lucifer from the brightness of heaven and forever

separates light and dark One third of the angels in heaven

choose to follow this fallen angel. The once Lucifer, now

Satan, and his fallen angels fell for days onto a plain in hell

There they are condemned to be chained in the fiery gulfs.
